THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF YOUR PRACTICE, IS THAT YOU ARRIVE FOR YOU.

We welcome you to explore mental stamina, emotional depth, spiritual awareness, philosophical threads and physical benefits in all and any of our classes.

In fact, you’re welcome if you’re just curious, if you need to take a big deep breath of difference, or if you just genuinely want to feel good on the inside.
Honesty, integrity and warmth are held in the highest of regards and embedded in our offerings, our teachers and our everyday approach. See our class descriptions below, and book from the live timetable.

PLEASE REMEMBER: to always practise to your own ability, being mindful of any health conditions or injuries and the limitations that they may bring. Our practices are not a race or a competition. While our experienced teachers will always endeavour to offer you as many variations as required, we do not replace the advice of your qualified medical health professionals.

ANCHOR

Unite and rebalance yourself with the world through a mindfully grounding practice that encompasses traditional asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques). Practised slowly and with purpose, ANCHOR is a Hatha-based offering that includes moments of stillness to explore the postural alignment and modifications, but also allows for the freedom of spacious movement.

Purpose – Patience - Tradition

FLUID & FORM

This yoga class is a celebration and exploration of movement through shape-shifting, and the breath.
Fluid & Form smoothes your movements breath to breath so as to increase your conscious awareness – but we’ll also throw in some movement drills and take from other movement modalities to highlight and explore the mechanics of the body and of shape.

Smooth – Steady – Strengthening

BEGIN

For the souls who are just discovering the magic of yoga; for those coming back to their yoga journey after being away; for those whom may just be curious AND for those who just want to peel things right back to basics (and we could ALL do that sometimes!), BEGIN welcomes all of you….. because we all start somewhere, over and over again.
This REGULAR class is designed to build your basic knowledge and foster self-confidence so that you can float into any yoga class when you feel ready. Or, stay as long as you like, maybe this is the just the right fit for you regardless of your experience.

The Perfect Starting Point

IGNITE

Only when there is a fire in the belly, is there true transformation.
Let inner warmth and curiosity drive you through this well-rounded, refreshing yoga and movement practice and spark the feel-goods from within.
Just as each of our breathing patterns and physical bodies are different, no two IGNITE classes are the same - creativity and possibility abounds here, encompassing and welcoming every body and every breath.

Flowing – Firey – Freeing

YIN

Relinquish your control: surrender your mind and body to its own shapes and spaces as we meditate and breathe our way towards a calmer Self.
Anchored in the traditional Taoist/Chinese Medicine philosophies, YIN has a strong focus on the smooth flow of our qi (prana, energy of the body), and targets the deep connective tissues of the body (fascia, ligaments, bones and joints) with the assistance of props – you’ll spend most of your time close to the floor and in complete stillness.  Patience and gravity are your best allies here - YIN will invite you to completely stop and listen to what your body really has to say.

Static – Soothing – Meditative

NOURISH

NOURISH is that perfect blend of deep stretching, movement, meditation and breathing, designed nourish ALL of the subtle bodies to leave you feeling truly at peace.
Bring energetic balance to your body and mind with a practice that supports your yin and your yang – and everything in between.

A Balance of the Best

UNWIND

UNWIND is the perfect way to end your week – or maybe another chance to squeeze in a great stretch before your weekend!
This is a classic all-over yoga rinse out: not pushing beyond our limits, this is a relaxed, stress-busting, feel-good movement class with a little bit of this and a little bit of that… and we’ll have a little fun while we’re at it.

The End of the Week Rinse Out

REWIRE

An offering to reset and reframe our thoughts, to choose heartfelt intention and purpose, and even rewire neural pathways through changing combinations of guided meditations, yoga nidra, singing bowls, mantra, gentle stretching and pranayama…. Best attended in comfortable clothing, just in case you drift off to sleep.

Release – Reflect – Relax

BARRE

… not nearly as easy as it might look!
BARRE blends elements of Yoga, Pilates and ballet to condition and move your body in a strong, satisfying and almost aerobic approach to your physical health. Each class has its own creative sequence (to avoid your muscles getting too comfortable!) and may include the use of small apparatus such as balls, bands and weights, giving you an extra edge to your practice.

Fun – Fit – Graceful

Mat Pilates

This is mindful muscle connection: the original powerhouse practice developed by Joseph Pilates built around his philosophies of control, concentration and centering. Improve your strength, balance, flexibility and range of motion while increasing those feel-good endorphins - this fun class has it all!  Suitable for all levels of experience.

Control – Concentration – Centre

REFORMER PILATES

Invented by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates, the Reformer Pilates apparatus uses spring loaded resistance to increase or decrease the intensity and focus of Pilates exercises. No two Reformer classes are the same and share the same important principles of mat pilates.
Work on your core strength, muscle tone, balance and alignment in a fun and supportive 45-minute sequence that has our modern-meets-tradition approach all over it.
Please note that it is a strict hygiene and safety measure for you to wear pilates socks (grips on soles) whilst in a reformer class, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Socks and reformer mats are available for purchase at reception.

Strengthen – Lengthen – Breathe

FOUNDATION REFORMER PILATES

This is a dedicated class for beginners, those returning from injury or time away, and those who wish to refine their precision. It will draw intentional focus to your control: you’ll be taught exactly what it means to have correct technique for breathing and core engagement without being rushed, and questions are welcomed (the more the better!).

You will be supported the whole way as we develop your confidence and knowledge so that you can float into any class that you choose (or, stay right where you are if you love it!). All levels of experience are welcome (doesn’t hurt to refine the essentials from time to time, right?)

Please note that this is not a pre-requisite for other reformer pilates classes, but is an ideal starting point for those that are new to Reformer Pilates.

Please note that it is a strict hygiene and safety measure that you wear pilates socks (grips on soles) in ALL reformer classes. You may bring your own or purchase at reception.

The First Step in Reformer Pilates

EXPRESS REFORMER PILATES

Our express version of the REFORMER PILATES classes that you know and love: 35minutes of mindful movement with just the right amount of spicy-spice (and sweat).
It may be a shorter-length class, but you’re likely not going to wish for any more time in this one…. And if you know, you know….
Please note that it is a strict hygiene and safety measure for you to wear pilates socks (grips on soles) whilst in a reformer class. You may bring your own or purchase from reception.

Sweet – Spicy – Sweaty

JUMP REFORMER PILATES

….using your feet, hands, side-lying, on the floor, on one leg, over the reformer, with or without the jumpboard….. this is a fun, cardio-injected class to get your blood and endorphins pumping!
Work on your core strength, muscle tone, balance and alignment in a fun and supportive 45-minute sequence that has our modern-meets-tradition approach all over it.

Please note that it is a strict hygiene and safety measure for you to wear pilates socks (grips on soles) whilst in a reformer class. You may bring your own or purchase from reception.

KIDS YOGA

A sunny 45min combination of simplified yogic breathing, exploration of traditional asana in a tangible, age appropriate manner (stretching, moving, playing games) and finishing with a mindfulness practice. This class is an investment in our future generations - give your children the tools to help them soothe, soar and build confidence within themselves.
Ages 4-9

Playful – Insightful – Nurturing

Far Infared Heating

Some of our regular classes will harness the therapeutical and deliciously nourishing benefits of our far infrared heaters – these classes will be denoted on the timetable accordingly as ‘warm’ (around 28*) or ‘hot’ (around 35*) and are NOT the same as Bikram.
Far infrared heating provides the same radiant and soothing heat that is naturally emitted from the sun. The objects (ah, that’s you!) and walls of the studio are evenly heated without having to warm the surrounding air; infrared wont harm your skin and safely permeates the body more effectively than any other type of heat – which makes for an even deeper, satisfying stretch.
Additionally, by practising in the heat you will be giving your immune system a boost, increasing your metabolism and detoxifying the body through sweat.

Because of how infrared rays are also absorbed by the water in our bodies, it’s important that you stay well-hydrated before and after any heated class. You are welcome to bring your water bottles into the studio space and a water station is located just outside of the studio doors for your use.
Please ensure you have a towel and wear comfortable clothing (preferably non-slippery fabric); please also be mindful that some pre-existing health conditions may be stimulated by increased heat – be sure to check with your doctor for advice before attending if you’re unsure.

Wait until you experience that incredible afterglow from a class under the heaters…. we’re quietly confident that you’ll be back for more!

PRIVATE, GROUP, CORPORATE & EVENT BOOKINGS

Antara Studios also offers private one-on-one and private group sessions, as well as corporate classes. We are open to all kinds of events and environments that may not ‘fit the box’ (think workshops, parties, pre-wedding, pre-interview – anything from 30mins to 3hours!); our practices are THAT adaptable, and evolve with you in- and outside the studio walls.
Please contact amy@antarastudios.com.au with your request and let us arrange something that fits you perfectly.
