Antara Studios is located at 299 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba, directly opposite Non-Stop Coffee.
There is plenty of on-street parking directly in front of the studio and in the surrounding roads. Please note this is paid council parking with up to 30mins free between 9am and 5pm.
Another paid council carpark is situated behind the studio and is accessible from the northern end of McCrum Lane.
Access to the studio is strictly through the front door- take the footpath to the left of the former Hear and Say Centre building and it will bring you directly to Ruthven Street.
The carpark directly behind our building is a staff carpark only.
Please DO NOT park in the Rumours carpark as this is reserved for clients of the centre.
Our up-to-date timetable is always available to view here on our website - Go to Timetable. We will also regularly post timetable updates to our Instagram and Facebook pages.
Our studio opens approx. 15 mins before classes begin, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before class so you can check in with reception and make yourself comfortable.
Classes begin on time and doors will lock 5 minutes into class, so as not to disrupt classes that are in progress.
You currently do not need to book your place for our mat classes, although, booking is an available option if you would like to reserve your place.
There are limited spaces in our Reformer classes, so BOOKING REFORMER IS ESSENTIAL. You can do this by logging into your Wellness Living account online/via the app and selecting the ‘book now’ next to the class you wish to book. If you are required to purchase a pass, you will be prompted for payment to confirm your spot.
We do not accept bookings for reformer classes via email or social media.
You may be automatically bumped from the waitlist and into a class up to ONE (1) HOUR before class begins. Our staff may contact you directly if a space becomes available with less than an hour to start to offer you the spot. If one hour is not enough notice to attend class, please remove your name from the waitlist to avoid potentially forfeiting a pass.
The short answer is yes, you can attend our classes while you are pregnant and you MUST disclose this to your instructor BEFORE class begins.
While our instructors will offer you variations to suit pregnancy and a number pf our staff have pre- and post-natal training, we strongly advise that you seek your health professionals’ advice before entering classes.
With a changing and growing body there are a number other factors to consider, including how far along you are, how you feel, have you practised before, are you high risk….. the list is ongoing and may change throughout your gestation.
We would recommend beginning in Foundation Reformer Pilates and/or Beginners Slow Flow yoga and advise avoiding heated classes while pregnant.
We also partner with Leah at Bellies and Bubs for pregnancy yoga classes that she runs from Antara. Leah may be contacted via her website www.belliesandbubs.com.au or via email leah@belliesandbubs.com.au
Nope.
We wholeheartedly welcome you into any of our spaces and any of our classes, regardless of your level of experience. Our beautiful staff will offer variations as they are needed to ensure that you are supported throughout your practice, no matter where you are.
The single most important element to your practice, is that you arrive for YOU.
We do offer a weekly Beginners Slow Flow Yoga class and Foundation Reformer Pilates if that is where you feel more comfortable to start your practice. These classes are NOT workshops or a series of classes, and while they are open to all levels of experience, they are tailored for beginners. Please refer to the timetable for scheduling.
Children aged 15+ may attend unheated yoga classes only with a participating adult.
Our studio does not have crèche facilities, and for safety reasons, we do not allow children to wait in the studio while a class is in progress.
We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat to all of our mat classes. If you don't have one, we do have a limited supply of studio mats that you are welcome to borrow; we ask that you clean them after every use with the antibacterial products provided. You are also welcome to bring your own props if you own them, or, use ours – again, all we ask is that you thoroughly clean them after use.
For Reformer Pilates, it is mandatory that you wear grip socks for hygiene and safety reasons. Please bring your own or they can be purchased in studio. We also offer Reformer Mats for purchase as an added measure but these are not mandatory.
Towels and water bottles are welcome, as you feel is necessary (particularly for heated classes). There are water stations just outside of our studios and are available for you to fill/re-fill as required.
All other belongings are kept safe in our locker areas for the duration of your class. Mobile phones MUST be switched off if they are in a studio basket, or left on SILENT in lockers; shoes are not to be worn in our mat studio and can be left either in locker areas or at reception.
Whatever you are comfortable moving in, whilst also being practical for the class you are attending - jeans are not going to be a great idea! Try not to wear anything too loose (it just gets in the way) or too restrictive (because, well… comfort).
Please consider whether you are attending a heated or active class when making your decision.
We use far infra-red heating in our mat studio.
Not all of our classes are heated, but those that are will be denoted as ‘warm’ (approx. 30 degrees) or ‘hot’ (approx. 36 degrees). Detailed information about infra-red heating is available on our Class Info page.
Please always be mindful of your personal health when participating in any heated class – there are some health conditions that may be triggered or aggravated by heat and so we ask you to consider suitability accordingly.
